Welcome to my website.  This self-designed cartoon is my attempt to show my long writing and reading life– with pets patiently reclining nearby–a black cat, a chonzer, and three  retrievers–two labs and a Chesapeake–now all deceased.

 I’ve been writing for a long time in various genres, and so I am attempting here to synchronize these on one site.

Feel free to browse through some of my literary essays, poems, stories, novel excerpts,  and some of my scholarly work–articles, chapters, book excerpts.

I also took most of the photos.

Even though I’m retired, I’m pleased to say that my scholarly work is still frequently downloaded  worldwide through Google Scholar and ResearchGate.net, where you can access full texts and abstracts of my scholarly work on these sites.

My literary work is available in obscure venues. I have it in hard contributors’ copies languishing on my bookshelves. Enjoy the literary work I have posted here,  but remember that they are copyrighted and you should ask permission to reproduce them. I own the rights.

The bottom photo is one a fellow took of me and my dog Maija on a road trip in Glacier National Park.  I have been an inveterate road-tripper–I love to drive– and have visited six of the seven continents. I even rented cars and drove by myself across both New Zealand and Australia on the left side of the road.

My essential and psychic home land is the Upper Peninsula–Ishpeming, Michigan–though I live in Columbus, Ohio. I also love Ohio and have lived and worked here, except for 13 years, since 1963.
